Build Abdominal Muscles
There is a common misconception about what it takes to build great abdominal muscles. There are more ab machines introduced to the general public than you could count! There are more exercises devised than you would even want to know. But there are three primary keys to building abdominal muscles. Only three things you must follow, and that is it! Please forget everything you think you know about abs. Forget what your friends told you, what the muscular guy said on TV, etc..., because most likely, it is completely wrong.
The Ab Crunch
This is the only exercise you need. The basic, simple, easy to do, CRUNCH! Every once in awhile you can throw in exercises like leg raises, but your core exercise should be the crunch. The crunch is like your typical "situp" except you don't raise your lowerback while crunching. You can put your hands behind your neck for support. The point is to squeeze your abs; in a sense, crunch them. The abdominal muscles are basically one continual muscle, and the crunch targets each individual "pack" sufficiently and effectively. Don't overdo it thinking you need to perform a mess of exercises, most of which don't even work.A diet condusive to losing fat and keeping it off
In order to even begin seeing your abdominal muscles, your bodyfat needs to be at a low enough percentage. The only way you will achieve this is by following a diet that will help you lose the fat you need to lose.Consistency
Yes, consistency is key. You won't reach any goals in life which require a good amount of work if you aren't consistent and routine. For the first few months until results appear and they provide the motivation, you need to make yourself follow a diet and exercise daily. There are no shortcuts. It is either do it, or don't do it.
Tough love is what it's about. Being a fitness trainer, I don't like to give people the run around. The small sacrifices you make at first, are well worth the end result. It is simply a process of a transformation from one lifestyle to a better lifestyle. Unfortunately many people are short sighted and don't see that exercising and dieting is a better lifestyle, as it makes you feel great and look good.
