Losing Stomach Fat
It's tough to do, but doable if you know what you're doing!
Diet. Diet is what it's all about when it concerns losing stomach fat, or losing any fat for that matter. Many people take the wrong route and try to exercise fat off and neglecting a solid diet. You can exercise all you want, but if you are consuming more calories than your body needs, you will not lose fat. In fact, it is impossible to lose fat this way. There are basic nutritional principles that you need to understand before making any attempts to lose fat.
Basic Nutritional Principles
- Calories in VS. Calories out.
Calories in = the amount of calories you consume while calories out = the amount of calories your body burns. Your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) is the amount of calories your body burns on it's own without reference to any physical activity you place on it. Generally this number is anywhere from 1,000 calories to 2,000 calories depending on your body specifics. Add on the amount of calories your body needs by your daily activities and you have your total caloric expenditure (calories out). Now, if you are consuming more than this number or near this number, you will not lose fat!
- Eating infrequently does not help you lose fat.
In fact, the opposite applies. When you ignore hunger your body makes it easier to store any food that you do eat as fat because it believes there is a shortage of food and it prepares itself by storing that food. Eating smaller portioned frequent meals (at least 5 meals per day) will help you lose fat as much as possible. Eating more frequently makes the digestive system have to work harder which requires more energy (calories).
Therefore if you wish to lose stomach fat, you need to understand the calories in vs calories out principle, and eat frequent meals. There is obviously more to it than that, but these are the core principles that must exist in order for fat loss to take place. Other things you can do to strengthen your
stomach fat loss efforts is to cut back on all processed junk foods and fast foods. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and exercise with emphasis on aerobic training.
