Everything you need to know about aerobic exercise programs
The term "aerobic" means with oxygen. The opposite of this would be "anaerobic" which means without oxygen. To elaborate on this term, it basically means that your body is using oxygen as a primary pathway to create the fuel necessary to allow for continued activity. In a more familiar sense, an aerobic exercise program can also be referred to as a cardiovascular workout.
Most of lifes activities are spent within the anaerobic pathway, meaning the energy required for these activities is readily available and does not require oxygen to produce that energy. However, when you do something like run for more than a couple minutes, those energy stores which are readily available quickly become depleted, and your body must rely on oxygen as a way to keep providing for that energy.
The whole point of an aerobic exercise plan is to help keep your cardiovascular system healthy, and help you lose fat and/or keep it off. It is beneficial for everyone to perform some type of aerobic exercise as it is proven to keep your body healthy and help you avoid many of the illnesses sedentary people contract.
There are many aerobic exercises you can integrate as a part of a daily routine. Anything which raises your heart rate for a period of time can be considered an aerobic exercise.
