Losing Weight After Pregnancy

So you have some baby fat, let's get rid of it.

The average fat increase during pregnancy for a woman of average height and weight is around 25 to 30 lbs.  So don't be alarmed if you're still hanging onto bodyfat after delivering your baby!  The fat increase during pregnancy is in anticipation of nursing and providing warmth.  Unfortunately we have no conscious say in this process.

The best way to lose weight after pregnancy is to put yourself on an immediate diet.  It's a struggle for many women, as they're used to eating more often and larger quantiies during pregnancy.  It's merely a process of breaking those eating habits that had developed over the last 9 months.  Making the smallest changes gradually after pregnancy will yield great fat loss results over time.

It's not advised to resort to any quick fixes through diet pills or unhealthy fad diets.  There's no quick and permanent way to losing weight after pregnancy!  Here are a few fat loss tips:

  1. Eat frequent smaller meals. Go from 3 meals a day to 5 or more.
  2. Ditch those "craving foods" you've been accustomed to during pregnancy.
  3. Determine your BMR and adjust your daily caloric consumption in a negative calorie diet.
